Required for this tutorial:
Download trial version of Jasc's PSP 7
A graphic that has one central image with lots of background such as this tiger graphic. Just right click and save.

Lets get started :-)
1. Open a new image, 400 by 400, transparent background.
2. Open the graphic you want to use, this works best with a graphic with lots
of background and one central image to it. I am using the tiger picture. Copy it,(shift D) and
close original so you can use it another day.
3. Now take your selection tool, selection type: square, feather: 0, and select part of
the background from your graphic.
4. Then go edit copy, edit save as new image so you have a new image of just your background.
5. Minimize both the graphic and your new background you have made and with your transparent
image open, set your foreground and background style boxes to white.
6. Now with your selection tool, selection type: rounded rectangle, feather: 0, draw a rectangle
onto your transparent image, and floodfill inside the "ants" with white. Deselect. (html code:#FFFFFF).
7. Go to Layers, add new raster layer and change selection type to hexagon. Draw a hexagon to come out
from the sides of the rectange. Because you have this on a second layer you can move it if not
exactly where you wish it. Deselect. I drew mine too large for my tastes so I just went to image, resize,
and percentage of original:90 and resize all layers unchecked and okay to get this...
8. Once where you want it, go Layers, Merge Visable.
9. With your magic wand, match mode:RGB Value, Tolerance: 0, and Feather: 0, click inside the white shape
you have made so "ants" are marching around the white shape.
10. Go to Selections, Modify, Contract by 20 Pixels, so now "ants" have moved in on your shape and click
on your scissors icon, or use your keyboard delete key so you now have cut out the white center.
Deselect. If you haven't been saving, you should save now.
11. Use your magic wand, same settings, and click on the white frame shape so you will see
"ants" on both the outside and inside of your shape.
12. Go to your foreground style box and set it to patterns (I set mine to scale 100% and angle 45) and select the background you made earlier
and floodfill your frame with the background. Do not deselect.
13. Go to effects, 3D effects, inner bevel and apply the round preset and change Shininess to 35.
Deselect and save.
14. On your layer palette, duplicate this image 3 times.
15. Now you show four layers on your layer palette. Leave the top layer unchanged, have your second layer down highlighted
so its active layer and go to image...resize, percentage of original 90, resize all layers unchecked and okay.
Then go effects, sharpen, sharpen.
Make next layer down active layer and resize, percentage of original 80, resize all layers unchecked and okay.
Then go effects, sharpen, sharpen.
Finally, make bottom layer active layer and resize, percentage of original 70, resize all layers unchecked and okay.
Then go effects, sharpen, sharpen. Now you should have this...
16. Merge all layers visable and add new raster layer. Save.
17. With your selection tool set to rounded rectangle draw a rectangle that extends past your
stacked frame to become your outside frame and flood fill it with white. You can move this layer below your
merged layer while you are moving it to center it better.
Once done..move the white layer to top again.
18. Repeat steps 9 to 13 on this white shape to get this...
19. Now you can see my stacked frames are too big and touching outer frame, so go image, resize, percentage of original
and resize the stacked frames layer 95% or what looks good to you. You may need to use mover tool to center the
stacked frames better. Then go Layers, merge visable and Save.
20. With your magic wand, click on transparency between outer and stacked frames to get ants and add new raster layer.
Then go to Selections, Modify, expand by 4, so ants sit now over the frames and flood fill inside ants with your pattern background.
Deselect. Move this layer below your merged frame layers.
21. Made your merged frames layer active and use magic wand, select transparent center to get "ants and add new layer.
Go to Selections..modify..expand by 2 pixels to move ants out so over stacked frames slightly and Save.
22. Make active your copy of graphic and use your crop tool to just select the main part of picture you want to use.
Then go edit...copy to put the picture into your clipboard, and minimize this graphic.
23. Make your framed image active and go edit..paste into selection. Go to effects, sharpen, sharpen, move this layer below your
merged frame layer and save. (you can add a cutout layer here if you want)
24. Merge all layers visable.
25. Now you can add a new layer and decorate with tubes if you wish.
26. Make sure you have only one layer...all layers merged visable and use your magic wand click on trasparency outside of your
tag. So ants are on outer frame and on image's edge. Go to Selections, Invert, then go to Image, Crop to Selection.
27. Go to Layers, Merge all layers, flatten. Resize if needed and sharpen if you resize.
Save in jpeg format and you are done.
Here is my completed tag.
I hope you enjoyed and and fun making this stacking frame tag.
