Required for this tutorial:

Note: This tutorial does not require the plugin SuperBladePro, you can use your patterns or solid colours where Blade pro is suggested and use your effects and inner bevel that is part of Paint Shop Pro 7. Also you can use a tube that comes with Paint Shop Pro if you don't have any tubes already. So really all you need for this tutorial is PSP 7.

Paint Shop Pro Download trial version of Jasc's PSP 7

Any font you like

Any matching tubes such as floral or butterflies

Super Blade Pro Download trial version of Flaming Pears Super Blade Pro

Lets get started :-)

1.  Open a new image, 400 by 400, transparent background, and go find any tubes you want to use to put on your tag. These will end up being the compliment colours you will want to use later. With your selection tool, selection type: rectangle, feather 0, draw a rectangle on your image that is wider than larger. Use your checkerboxes of transparency to make rectangle 4 blocks tall and leaving two blocks unused on both sides. Set your foreground style box white and flood fill your selection white. Deselect ants. Save in psp format.

2.  With your selection tool, same settings, draw a rectangle on image that is in three checkerboxes in on the sides from your first white rectangle and two checkerboxes higher than your first white rectangle. Flood fill with white. Deselect ants.

3.  Repeat Step 2 until you have shape as you like it. I ended up adding one more longer rectangle to come out from the sides by 2 to make it look more uniform to me. You may want to create a different shape for your tag. Desekect ants. (Selections, select none.)

4.  Use your mover tool if necessary to center your shape on your image.

5.  On your layer palette, right click with your mouse and select duplicate and duplicate this layer.

6.  Now null your layer 1 (click on the glasses icon on layer one to put X there) and make sure layer 2 is active. (highlighted)

7.  Use your magic wand, tolerance and feather set to 0, and click on your white shape to select it.

8.  Go to Selections, Modify..Contract by 20 pixels and okay to move ants in.

9.  Click on scissors icon to cut out the white center. Deselect ants.

10.  Use your magic wand, click on white frame to select it. You will see ants on inside and outside of the white shape.

11.  Floodfill inside ants with either a pattern or a gradient and add an inner bevel, or you can use Bladepro and a preset you perfer, using a complimentary colour to the tubes you want to apply to your tag later. Deselect ants. This is what I have so far.

12.  Unnull layer 1, you can leave it white..or you can flood fill white with another colour if you wish.

If floodfilling it to another colour than white, null layer 2, select white with your magic wand, and floodfill inside the ants. Then deselect.

13.  Add a new layer and click on text icon (looks like letter A) and change your style boxes to colour you wish your text to be and add your name to the tag. Use your mover tool to center your text. Deeselect ants.

14.  Add a new layer and decorate with the tube(s) you selected at start of tutorial. Add any effects like drop shadows now and merge visable. Here is what I have now.

15.  Merge all layers visable and with magic wand, click anywhere on transparent background, go to selections, invert, then to image, crop to selection.

16.  Go to image..resize, resize it down to that its no larger than 250 pixels at width, resize all layers checked. Then go effects, sharpen, sharpen. Save.

17.  On your layer palette, duplicate this layer 3 times so you have 4 layers.

18.  Then add a new layer and flood fill it white and duplicate white layer 3 times and move all the white layers below the duplicated layers.Rename your duplicated layers..1 to 4 and your white layers rename white. (top layer being 4)

19.  Null all layers except layer 1 and one white layer, merge visable, rename 1. Then null layer 1.
Unnull layer 2 and go image, mirror then merge visable these two layers. Rename layer 2. Then null layer 2.
Unnull layer 3 and go image, mirror then merge visable these two layers. Rename layer 3. Then null layer 3.
Unnull layer 4 and last white layer, merge visable, rename 4. Then null layer 4.

20.  You now should have four layers all on white backgrounds, the second and third layer are mirrorred. Make sure you have layer 4 highlighted and Save.
